It’s 2016 and you have a dusty looking website that needs bringing out from the doldrums into the spotlight of the world. You are fairly happy that it is all looking spick and span, but at the moment it has the internet version of tumbleweed blowing across it.
So what is to be done? Here we have compiled a list of tips and ideas to really help deliver traffic to your site.
Sometimes we just have to start at the top and go for the most obvious, if not always the cheapest option. Advertising can and does work to boost a website’s traffic ratings. This could be on social media or paid links. Don’t forget to use high commercial intent keywords.
- USE SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS
Everything from Facebook, to Twitter and increasingly LinkedIn. Each of the social media has something different to commend it. Twitter is excellent for short, snappy messages whereas Pinterest may work best for anything image based.
- GET INVOLVED
Your involvement in social media does not have to end with simply putting out press releases and marketing. You need to be prepared to reply to people and even get involved in debates surrounding the business that you are in. Obviously, you want to remain tactful and polite at all times whilst doing this!
Comments sections, message boards and other arenas of social media which are discussing whatever topic or business you are involved in are a good starting point.
- MAKE YOUR SITE ACCESSIBLE
As we said to begin with, it is now 2016. It is not enough for your site to load well enough on a high powered desktop PC. It now has to work on a variety of devices, including some pretty small smart phones. Can your site be viewed easily on a phone or tablet for example? Check it out and make sure that it does.
- WRITE EYE CATCHING HEADLINES
You need to get people’s attention and do it quickly. The snappy headline is the most important thing you can do to get people to look at your page.
- BLOG LIKE THERE IS NO TOMORROW
Regular blog posts, regularly updated help keep your website fresh and new looking. Remember to include some fabulous images too!
- INVITE A GUEST BLOGGER
And whilst we are at it, what about asking someone else to write for you, someone who is knowledgeable and well known within your industry? Another idea could also be to simply interview some notable people within your business. This could help attract attention towards your website from previously unseen quarters.
- CHECK OUT THE COMPETITION
As well as doing everything that you possibly can do to make sure that your site is pulling in the traffic, what about checking out what your competitors are doing? Find some of the best websites in your industry and see what makes them tick. How do they get their message across? How often are they updated? It may be time to download some of the software used for comparing how they rank, as well as simply seeing what sort of topics seem to be going down well with their users and client base.
