Drupal, Tomcat, Solr Search and Multisites with Ubuntu 10.04 and Views

This article is relevant for people who are managing their own server as it is necessary to have root access to proceed what is described here.

The first part deals with Solr configuration for multisites with drupal, as the second shows how to build a a solr enabled view. This will combine the power of faceted search in solar with the flexibility of Views to display the results in a nice way.

Considering that the apachesolr module version is 6.x-2.x and Views module is the version 3.

How to enable root access in ubuntu ?

This is very simple.

Press ALT+F2 and type xterm followed by ENTER.

A shell is opening so you can type :

sudo passwd root

Then type your password once, followed by the password you want to set up for the root user twice.
